The Perry Brothers - Ch. 13

Terri and Terry 18 years old
"Achoo!" The brothers' college has started off great. They've got a roommate, Roland. "Dude, don't sneeze on me!" Roland is a cool guy. He's adventurous, brave, outgoing, friendly and can go pretty crazy. His major is musical theatre. "Oh, c'moon! It doesn't matter, you're sick anyways..." Terry and Terri haven't felt very good the last two days. They've got a really bad flu. "It's still gross! Ugh..." They're staying in bed today. Roland's promised to bring them food, when he has time. "Oh ff... I had to write that novel!" "So? Terry, please don't tell me that it has to be done tomorrow." Terry looks at Terri with a desperate look. He clearly doesn't master the puppy dog eye like Terri does. Terri realizes that his brother's laptop is on the desk, so they have to get up to get it. "Oh great... Fine. Okay, let's get up." The brothers use all the strength to get out of bed. Immediately as they stand up, both of them feel extremely dizzy. Their heads are empty and a stream of cool water washes through. Their tentacles start burning. Their stomach makes several front and back flips. They slowly walk to the desk and pick up the laptop. It's heavy like a huge boulder, even though it's almost paper thin. They desperately carry it to the bed and then collapse on it themselves. This cold has really taken all their strength.

"Hellooo! How are the patients feeling? I brought you a mozzarella pizza." Terry is desperately trying to write, but he can't think and his fingers can't find the correct buttons. "Yo, dude. You need to rest." "But it's due tomorrow and I-" "Then, you're not attending classes tomorrow. When you're sick, you're sick. No pretending." Terry smiles warmly. "Thanks, dude." Terry starts feeling warm and floating. He's not quite sure if it's because he's sick or something else. "Hey, I'm going to this one smaller party tonight, if you're fine with it." Terri answers, cracking his voice a little bit: "Of course. You're going alone?" "No, I'm going with Molly." Always when Roland's girlfriend, Molly, is mentioned, Terry seems kind of sad. Terri can never really understand what's going on inside the mind of his brother's mind.

The Perry Brothers - Ch. 12

Terri and Terry, 18 years old
"Boys! Breakfast is ready." Terry and Terri pull themselves out of bed with difficulty. None of the universities, they've applied to, have answered. It doesn't seem good at all. The brothers go downstairs and mom asks them to get the mail. They go outside and the sunlight shines brightly and inconveniently into their eyes. The newspaper, a few bills, advertisement, a letter from their annoying aunt - she's on vacation somewhere - and two letters from Monsters University. One for Terri Matthew Perry, one for Terry Mathew Perry. Could this be it? Terri can't help but freak out in joy. "Terry, Terry, Terry! It's from the university... Monsters University!" "Oh, reeaally? I couldn't see that." Terry sounds sarcastic, but smiles at his brother's excitement.

The twins go inside and open the letters in the breakfast table. Their parents see the MU logo and get excited too. "Dear Terri Matthew Perry/Terry Mathew Perry, we are happy to accept you to our university. We hope to see you the 21st of August, this year. Your brother, Terry/Terri is also welcome. Regards, Dean Hardscrabble." The brothers' faces light up. "We're accepted! To MU! We're gonna be college students! At Monsters University!" The whole family gets up, jumping around and hugging each other. Things are finally coming together. For a long while, even Terri, the king of optimism, didn't believe things would work out. Emily, "the twin-murders", college... Now atleast something's going in the right direction.

21st of August. This is the day. The brothers have woken up early and checked, once again, if they have everything packed. "Terri, this is it... We're leaving home. We're going to college. We're gonna become scarers. We're growing up." "I know... Wow! I just can't wait. We could join a fraternity and we can... There's just so much!" "Yeah. But you better study some too. I don't want everyone thinkin. that we're both stupid just because of you." Terri smiles sarcastically. "Ha ha. You are so funny." "What? What did I say? I was being completely honest." The twins laugh, joke and pick on each other. Once their parents wake up, they go to the bus stop. Mom couldn't be more proud. "Oh, I just can't believe, you're growing up! I love you boys so much." "Remember to call us every now and then." Terry gets out of mom's hug to answer. "Sure, dad." Eventually the bus comes and the brothers get on it. Terry and Terri wave as the bus starts moving and mom takes a picture.

The Perry Brothers - Ch. 11

Terri and Terry, 17 years old
The floor is covered with clothes and all the school books are in a messy pile on a chair. The dark turqoise walls are filled with posters, half of them are posters of jazz bands and half of pop stars. The brothers are on the bottom bed of the bunkbed, the same one they had as kids. They're video chatting with Samantha. After middle school, they haven't seen her much. "Yeah, Lily and I are planning on going to the same college. She means the world to me, so I really hope it's possible." Terri looks down and tries to breathe naturally. He still hasn't quite gotten over Emily. "Terri, are you okay? I'm sorry I shouldn't hav-" "No, it's okay, Sam. I really should have forgotten about it now..." Samantha gives a comforting smile. "It's okay. You have the permission to be sad, just like anyone else. Even though it would've been a while ago." Terri returns the smile through the camera. Samantha let's the moment calm down and then continues the conversation. "Have you thought about college? Any plans?" Terry looks over to the desk, filled with college leaflets and unfinished applications. "Yeah, we've got a lot of ideas, though all of them are a bit unsure." "Except Monsters University." Terri adds. "Well, yeah. We both would want to go there the most, to become scarers. But to be honest, it's pretty high class. They probably won't accept us." Terri hits his brother's head slightly. "Come on! Get some positivity. Be optimistic." "I think you bring more than enough of that. If I were to add any more, the result wouldn't be as nice as you'd think." "But, hey, what if they only accept one of you? What would you do then?" The brothers look over to each other. "Uh, we haven't actually thought about that. Perhaps we should write on the applications, that we're conjoined twins, huh?" Samantha laughs "Yeah, perhaps."

After some talking, the brothers go watch TV and the news are on. "Once again, we have sad news of conjoined mons-" Terry changes the channel quickly. Terri looks at him, confused. "Okay, that's it! Ever since we were kids, mom and dad have been hiding something from us. Then suddenly, you start hiding it from me!" "But, Terri..." "I've had enough of this hiding. Come on. Even Sam won't tell me anything! I'm almost grown up already. What ever it is, I can handle it." Terri grabs the remote and changes the channel back. "... The rest of the family is devastated. A shocking amount of conjoined monsters, born in the last two decades have ended up killing each other. Psychiatrists and the police are trying to reduce the amount of "twin murders", but there isn't much anyone can do." Terri is now even more confused. Terry is looking away, breathing heavily. "Wh-what?" Terry is trying very hard not to say 'I told you so'. "You okay?" "Yeah! But... Seriously, this happens? People do this?" Terri starts thinking. Thoughts of him and Terry ending up in such a serious fight gives him the chills, which Terry gets scared by. Terri is surprised and shocked, though when he looks at his brother, he realizes that Terry is much more affected and scared by the news. Should Terri be as worried? This won't affect their life, will it?

The Perry Brothers - Ch. 10

Terri and Terry, 16 years old
The brothers have a game night. Their parents are gone for the whole night. "Come on... Get him. Get him! YES!" Both are laughing and shouting every now and then. Terry and Terri really appreciate these small moments. Suddenly Terri's phone rings. It's Emily. "Hi, honey! Yeah? You okay? Alright, alright.Well, I guess so. I'll see you soon!" Terry questions the call. "Emily wants to talk. She's coming already." The twins get a coat and go outside to wait for Emily. It's pretty cold. The darkness has taken over and there are a few lights coming from windows. Emily finally comes on her bike. Her eyes are gleaming and her hair is flowing beautifully. All three go inside.

Emily seems sad. They sit down in the living room. Emily almost goes to Terri's arms, but sits further away. "Em, what's wrong?" Emily takes a few deep breaths. "Terri... I don't know, how to say this. I... I don't think that w-we should, uh, should be together. It doesn't work out." Terri's heart stops for a second. He can't breath. He can't think. He's staring forward, not even blinking. Everything is happening inside his head. All the memories, all the thoughts, all the moments, all the kisses. All the incredible love. It's like everything is getting further away from him. It's like a wall appeared in front of Terri without warning. "But... But, I... We..." Terri tries to hold back the tears that are gathering in his eye. "Why?" "Terri, I... honestly, I really do love you. But I just can't have a serious relationship with you." Terri starts almost shouting, trying to fight the sorrow. "Why? Why? We're happy together! We, we... Isn't love good enough? What did I do wrong? We can fix this-" "No, Terri. It's not because of you... I mean it is... But it's not your fault! It's just... It's Terry. I mean... Oh god, I'm gonna be an awful person now. There's nothing wrong with either of you." Emily takes a moment to think, how to say these things. "If we'd ever get married, I just couldn't think, that I'm married to Terri. I'd feel like I'm married to both of you. And imagine raising kids. It wouldn't work..." "But... NO! You can't leave me! I love you! We can work things out. We're gonna go it through together. We're gonna fix everything. Please! You... You said, you love me. Do you love me enough, to not care about this? Do you? DO YOU?!" Emily stays silent for a second. "I guess not." She hugs Terri for a long time and walks to the door. She looks back and then leaves without a word.

Everything falls apart. Nothing feels the same. Everything's getting further away. Everything you knew has changed. Terri's tears are gathering up in his eye like a flood before he releases them into a waterfall. She's gone. Terry doesn't know what to do. He's never been the comforting type. "Terry, she's gone. She's gone. What am I going to do now? I... I can't!" Terri's tears start dripping onto their shirt. All of his words crumble and shatter as he says them. "I can't live without her. She just... No. Because we're conjoined, she left. It's because... It's because of you. It's your fault! It's because of you! You're the reason we can't be together! It's your fault, Terry! YOUR FAULT!" Terri continues shouting at his brother. His tears are rolling down Terri's cheeks and his words strike into Terry's heart. "I hate you, Terry! I HATE YOU! It's all your fault! Without you, my life would be better in every way! I HATE YOU!" The brothers fall on their knees and Terry starts forming tears too. Terri cries loudly, but tries to talk through the weeping. "Te-Terry... I-I'm sorry, it's not your f-fault. I just... I don't kn-know what to... to do." "It's fine... Do you wanna talk about it?" Terri tries to even his breath and shakes his head slightly. Terry thinks for a moment. "Well... If you'd like it, we could get some of your favourite snacks and watch a movie. You could... You know, get it out of your mind." "I think t-that... that'd be great."

Terry gets the brothers some chocolate, jelly beans, and soda. They take off the shirt wet from Terri's tears and put on a tank top. It's around three times the twins' size, so it's comfortable. Terri picks one of his favourite movies. It's a romantic comedy about a monster, who's grown up in the human world and then tries to fit in with the other monsters. His favourite movies often have humans and monsters becoming friends, but that definitely doesn't mean he's interested in that. Terri still cries, but his breathing starts getting easier and more even. Terry can't stand looking at his brother like this. Or atleast not when someone else has made him cry. Terri sobs through out the whole film, but he does calm down slighlty. Watching movies isn't the best comfort for a broken heart especially when the movie is about love, but it's good to make you forget about your sorrows for awhile. Terry starts thinking. Emily doesn't love Terri enough to stay with him. So maybe that means it's for the better.

The Perry Brothers - Ch. 9

Terri and Terry, 16 years old
Screaming, laughing, music, and the smell of popcorn and cotton candy. Terry, Emily and Terri are in a funfair. Emily was the one with the idea and Terri got really exited about it, but there was a lot of debating to get Terry to come. They've been in the maze, the fun house, and the bumber cars. It's getting quite late already. Emily's eyes light up. "Hey, guys, guys, guys! A rollercoaster. Let's go there!" "Yeah! I've never been in one. Let's do that!" "Woah, woah, woah. Terri! No way." "Oh, come on! Just this once." "You get on it once, you want to get on it again. Not gonna do that." Terri looks into his brother's eye with his "puppy dog eye". Terry looks back at him. He just can't say no. "Ugh... Fiiine. I'm gonna regret this."

The line is long. Terry is feeling confident. It won't be that bad, won't it? They get closer little by little. Now Emily and the brothers can just about see the carts going and coming back. "Uh, maybe we should go back." "No way, Terry! We already got this far, we're not going back." Terry takes a deep breath. It'll be fine. Terry can now see people going off in the carts. "Oooooh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! I can't. Not doing it. NO!" Emily goes to Terry's side. "Don't worry. These have been tested a million times and people go here for fun. It's gonna be fine, okay?" Terry tries to calm down. They get closer and closer. They're already the next ones to go. "Ooooooooh god! Terri, I can't do this. I can't! I'm sorry, I can't." "Terry. There's no going back. You told me, you'll come. We're already next and we're not going back." Terry panics slightly. It'll be fine. People go here for fun. The cart comes and Emily, Terri and Terry gets seated. "It's gonna be fine. It's gonna be fine. It's gonna be... fun. Right?" Terry grabs the restraints tightly and continues his attempt of calming down. Suddenly the ride starts going slowly and Terry stops in horror.

The ride starts with an upphill. Terry really starts panicing. He's talking to himself: "Maybe I could scream and tell them to stop the ride... I could slide away from these restraints and jump onto that safety staircase. Yeah." Terri sees his brother's worry. "Hey, it's gonna be fine. After this we can go do whatever you want. Just, look at the view." Terry looks over the funfair and quickly closes his eye turns back. "Maaaybe not." Finally the uphill comes to an end and there about to go down. For the small while there up Terry opens his eye and looks down. "I wanna go home." He quickly grabs Terri's hand before they drop. Terri is moved and smiles at him, but starts laughing at the screaming Terry. "Come on! Open your eye! It's fun!" "Shut up, shut up, shut UP! You're making me more scared!" Terri starts laughing even more. "How can it ma-" "I said, shut up!" Terry screams through out the whole ride. Other screaming people, the wind and the noise of the roller coaster make some of Terry's words dissapear: "Terri Matthew Perry, I f... hate you, you son of a-" The cart stops and interrupts him. "Well, Terry Mathew Perry, in that case, so are you and the ride's over." Emily and Terri walk the shaking Terry to the nearest bench.
